Description:
Charge is seeking a Project Manager with strong skills in team leadership and project delivery, experience with underground construction and a proven track record of completing projects safely and with high quality. Must have the ability to be on government property and enter government buildings. Project Managers receive daily leadership support from the project manager supervisor and/or the program manager, and routine project support from a combination of the project coordinators, field engineers, foremen, and superintendents. We place an emphasis on candidates with strong interpersonal and communication skills, construction experience, and a solid foundation in the financial aspects of project management.
Responsibilities:
- Manage five to 15 active construction projects at any time ($1 to $10 m portfolio value).
- Manage projects with strict customer requirements (schedule, cost, quality), which include engineering and/or permitting scope.
- Ensure projects are properly planned, executed, and closed.
- Ensure project decisions are made within the broader context of safety adherence and financial stewardship, and the need to meet customer and quality requirements.
- Provide support for the construction crews with respect to technical requirements and management of scope, schedule, and resources.
- Assist the field operations team in the development and improvement of crews.
- Provide client management, communication, and support.
- Assist in the professional development of field engineers and project coordinators.
- Provide management and control of the project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure that company’s commitments to the client are met while verifying that the project financial goals are met.
- Conduct discussions with the client to ensure the goals of the project are understood.
- Provide management and timely communication of project changes with the client and the project team.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have the ability to be on government property and enter government buildings. Must be able to pass background to be on premises of military installations
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management software (Viewpoint or similar) and Scheduling software (Primavera or similar)
- Manage projects with strict customer requirements (schedule, cost, quality), which include engineering and/or permitting scope.
- Ability to actively manage a portfolio value of $5 million to $10 million
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels and in all formats
- A bias to action; attacks problems head on with enthusiasm, seeing the opportunity behind every challenge.
- Able to manage multiple projects in various stages at one time.
- Ability to think creatively and be solution focused.
- Proven organizational tools and methods for ensuring all commitments are met.
- Experience working with PG&E or other large Electric Utility Companies
Education and Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience as a Project Manager with a PMP (Project Management Professional certification) or 3-5 years of experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry with a bachelor’s degree in construction or project management.
- Project management experience in utility-level electric or gas construction.
- Experience managing portfolios with a value of $5M or higher.
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 10lbs
- Work at a desk and on computer approximately 6-8 hours per day
- Perform with frequent interruptions and/or distractions
- Perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload
- Uses telephone and email to communicate with vendors, customers, and co-workers
